Shared bill of materials

Updated

What the room is

The BOM room is a shared bill of materials. One list can have seats for a purchaser, an engineer, a supplier, or a broker. The point is that the people who specify the part and the people who price it look at the same lines, instead of trading spreadsheets that diverge.

The room is a tool. Its URL is disallowed for crawlers. This guide is the public description of the same behavior, including seats and awards.

Bids and the award

A line can receive bids. The award is the decision on that line. Awarding on Bidzop records an order intent in the same order book as a request for quote that was accepted here. Awarding offline leaves the purchase with the parties. Offline means no purchase order and no commission, the same rule as the quote guide.

An award does not charge a card. If the line later ships, a person types the shipment milestones. Bidzop does not ask a carrier whether the box moved.

What belongs on a line

A useful line names the manufacturer part number, the quantity, and any constraint the engineer actually has, such as a package or a lifecycle limit. The catalog can show stored specifications for parts it already holds. It will not invent a datasheet URL. If a datasheet link appears, it was stored, not guessed.

Pasting a bill of materials into the sourcing copilot matches the text to listed stock. That copilot is a signed-in tool and is disallowed in robots.txt. Match results follow the same sample-versus-live rule as search. A match against the sample book is a sample match.

Seats and arguments

Seats exist so a purchaser does not overwrite an engineer's constraint, and a supplier does not silently edit the demand. If the parties disagree after an order exists, the case screen is the place that disagreement is written down. A case does not freeze money. Bidzop does not hold the funds while they decide. Both parties have to accept a recommendation before it becomes the resolution.

Use the room when more than one company, or more than one role inside a company, must see the list. A single buyer with one part number can skip it and post a request for quote instead.

Inviting a seat does not create an account by itself and does not send a payment link. The person still signs in as a buyer, supplier, or broker on the shared market. An empty seat is not a bid. A bid is not an award. An award on Bidzop is not a carrier booking. Read the line, the quantity, and the award choice before you tell a factory the part is on order. If the award was offline, the factory order lives in whatever system the parties already use, and Bidzop will not show a purchase order for it.
