Requests for quote

Updated

What a request contains

A request for quote names a part and a quantity. It is demand, not an order. Buyers open it from a part row or from the quote list. Suppliers and brokers who are on this market can respond with a price and a quantity they will stand behind. The response is a quote in the market database, not an email Bidzop sends to a purchased list of distributors.

There is no step that ranks every supplier on earth and fans the request out. The people who see it are the people using Bidzop. If you need a specific manufacturer sales desk, contact them yourself. Bidzop does not pretend to be that desk.

Who answers

A supplier account lists stock and can quote against open demand. A broker account watches the spread between cost and the buyer's target and can quote from that desk. A buyer account posts the request and later chooses whether any quote becomes an order on Bidzop.

The quote screens require a session. robots.txt disallows /rfqs, /desk, and /inventory so those URLs are not treated as articles. This guide is the page to cite.

From quote to order, or not

Accepting a commercial line is a separate choice labeled Order on Bidzop. Until that choice, there is no purchase order. After it, confirmation stores incoterms, ship-from, ship-to, and payment terms. The terms are words. Bidzop does not collect them as money.

Choosing to handle the purchase yourselves creates no purchase order and no commission. That path is first-class. A broker who closes the deal offline is not forced back onto the site to generate a fee. Commission exists only as a recorded obligation on an order that was placed here, and marking it paid does not move funds.

What not to promise in the quote

Do not paste a Sandbox price into a customer commitment and call it Bidzop Live stock. Do not promise a carrier scan the site cannot fetch. Do not promise that a complaint will escrow the payment. The order and case screens say the opposite, and this guide matches them.

Idempotency on quote posts exists so a double click does not create two identical requests. It is an engineering guard, not a commercial guarantee. The buyer should still read the quote that comes back.

After a request is posted, the buyer sees it on the quote list with the part number and quantity they typed. A supplier reply adds a price and a quantity beside that request. Nothing on that list is a shipment, an invoice, or a payment. Those records appear only if someone later chooses Order on Bidzop, and even then the payment terms stay words. If no one replies, the request simply stays open. Bidzop does not invent a supplier, a price, or a lead time to fill the gap. Close the request or change the quantity in the signed-in tool. Do not expect a public URL for one request to rank in search. Each request is private to the market session that can see it.
